Ottawa head back out on the road looking to build on a first win of the series that staved off elimination.

The Senators entered the playoffs having won the previous five meetings with Toronto, but found themselves on the brink of elimination after three consecutive defeats.

They were beaten 6-2 in regulation and 3-2 in overtime on the road, and then returned home for a 3-2 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

That left Ottawa in a ‘must-win’ situation and they got the job done on Saturday as they downed Toronto 4-3 in overtime, but they must now win three more games to advance.

The Senators claimed their place in the playoffs by compiling a 45-30-7 record to finish fourth in the Atlantic Division standings.

Toronto return home on the back of a first defeat of the series, but in a commanding position with only one more win needed to wrap up this series.

The Maple Leafs entered the series having lost five straight meetings with the Senators, but they turned that around over the first three games.

They opened the series with back-to-back home games and beat Ottawa 6-2 in regulation and 3-2 in overtime, before heading out on the road for another 3-2 overtime success.

That gave Toronto the chance to wrap up the series over the weekend, but they failed to take the opportunity as they lost 4-3 in overtime.

The Maple Leafs earned their place in the postseason by compiling a 52-26-4 regular-season record to finish atop the Atlantic Division standings.
