San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues Game 3 Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

This NHL Western Conference Finals moves to St. Louis with the series knotted 1-1. I am backing the Blues at -130 at Enterprise Center against a Sharks team that has lost their last two road games.

San Jose Sharks Form & Team News

In Game 1 of this series the Sharks were on the attack in a 6-3 win, but in Game 2 the offense was not there in the 4-2 loss. They allowed four goals on only 25 shots.

San Jose head coach Peter DeBoer needs to get his team to press the attack and light the lamp often. That is unlikely, as the Sharks have only scored two goals in their last three road games.

Sharks’ G Martin Jones gave up four goals in Game 2 and he has given up seven goals in the first two games of the series. He should struggle again in between the pipes, as he has allowed at least three goals in three of his last four starts.

St. Louis Blues Form & Team News

The Blues took home ice advantage from the Sharks with the Game 2 win and head into Game 3 as the favorite. In the last seven games between these teams the favorite has won five times and that can happen again in Game 3 in St. Louis.

Craig Berube needs his team to play solid defense in this game like the last one. There is a good chance that will happen for a team that has not given up more than two goals in four of their last five games.

After getting blitzed in the Game 1 loss St. Louis G Jordan Binnington had a solid Game 2. He should play well in Game 3, as in his last two home starts has only allowed three goals.

Jaden Schwartz scored in the Game 2 win and he will likely continue his hot streak leading the team with nine goals in the playoffs while only scoring 11 in the regular season.

Back on home ice I have to tip the Blues at -130. Not only has the home team won six of the last seven games between these teams, but St. Louis has won 17 of their last 23 home games.

The total for this game is at 5.5 goals and the total has gone over in both games in the series.

The Blues can play well on both sides of the ice again like in Game 2, so a good value bet would be tp pick the same score of 4-2 in Game 3, which is at +1400.

San Jose Sharks vs. St. Louis Blues Head to Head

While the Sharks have won five of their last seven games against the Blues, they lost Game 2 and only tallied three goals in the two games at St. Louis this season.

The home team has won six of the last seven games between these NHL rivals. Martin Jones has given up 10 goals in the three games against the Blues this season.

San Jose Sharks vs. St. Louis Blues Match Up

The Sharks have to get back to their offensive ways, but that is unlikely against the Blues who only allowed one goal in their last game on home ice.

The Blues will follow the blueprint from Game 2 and for the 2nd straight game should get their defense to fuel the offense.

San Jose Sharks vs. St. Louis Blues Statistics

  • The home team is 6-1 in the last 7 games between these teams.
  • The favorite is 5-2 in the last 7 games between these teams.
  • San Jose Sharks are 3-7 in their last 10 road games.
  • St. Louis Blues are 17-6 in their last 23 home games.

The Blues will keep up their momentum in Game 3 at home where their defense has been more than solid as of late. I am backing them to win at -130 and take a 2-1 series lead.
