St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks Game 1 Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

In the opening game of the NHL Western Conference Finals I am tipping the Sharks at -130 on home ice to take Game 1. San Jose has won five of their last six home games including their last two.

St. Louis Blues Form & Team News

The Blues were at home in their last game where they beat the Dallas Stars 2-1 in double overtime in Game 7. They won the last two games of the series where they only allowed one goal in each game.

The Blues are 5-1 on the road in the NHL playoffs and can head coach Craig Berube get his team to continue their solid road play? I think it is unlikely, as the Blues lost both games on the road against the Sharks this season.

Jordan Binnington has started very playoff game between the pipes for the Blues and has a GAA of 2.39. He had a solid rookie season, but should struggle in this game in his first career start against the Sharks, who ranked tied for 2nd this season in goals per game.

San Jose Sharks Form & Team News

The Sharks advanced to the NHL Western Conference Finals beating the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 at home in Game 7. They have only given up three goals in their last two home games.

Martin Jones had a terrible .838 save percentage in the first four games of the playoffs where he was pulled twice. He has turned things around with a save percentage of .928 in his last 10 starts and should have a good start in Game 1.

While San Jose is led by their offense can head coach Peter DeBoer get his team to continue to play solid defense? I think that can be the case, as in the two home wins over the Blues this season San Jose only gave up two goals.

The Sharks are 5-1 in their last six home games as a favorite. I am backing San Jose to stay hot on home ice at -130 and win Game 1.

There is value in the puck-line with the Sharks giving 1.5 goals (3.10), as they beat the Blues 4-0 in their last home game against them.

St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks Head to Head

The Sharks have won their last three home games against the Blues including winning two on home ice facing them this season. The home team is 5-0 in the last five games between these NHL rivals.

Dating back to last season the Sharks are 4-2 against the Blues.

St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks Match Up

The Blues will look to keep up their solid defensive form in the opening game of this series in San Jose. Their offense has been decent in the playoffs, but they only scored two goals in the two road losses to the Sharks this season.

The Sharks will follow their blueprint of playing balanced hockey on home ice where they have won five of their last six games.
