St Louis secured their place in the playoffs by putting together a 44-30-8 record to finish fifth in the Central Division.

The Blues enjoyed a great run between the middle of March and early April as they went on a season best 12-game win streak to surge into the postseason picture.

That run cooled off with a three-game losing sequence, which began with a 3-1 loss when they visited playoff opponents Winnipeg.

St Louis then moved on to Edmonton to lose 4-3 to the Oilers, before heading to Seattle for a 4-3 shootout loss to the Kraken.

The Blues ended the regular season on a positive note though, as they blew out Utah at home, 6-1.

They failed to back that up in the opening game of this series though, as they were beaten 5-3 in Edmonton on Saturday.

Winnipeg Jets Form

Winnipeg booked their spot in the postseason by putting together a league-best 56-22-4 record to win the Central Division.

The Jets’ great form saw them finish six games clear of Dallas, and they ended the regular season on a solid run too.

They lost two of their first three games in April, but rebounded to win their next three, starting with a 3-1 win over playoff opponents St Louis.

Winnipeg backed up that win on the road, as they won 4-0 in Dallas before heading to Chicago to beat the Blackhawks via a shootout, 5-4.

The Jets failed to make it four-in-a-row as they lost 4-1 to Edmonton, but they did bounce back in the regular season finale to beat Anaheim 2-1 in overtime.

They then followed that up in the opening game of this playoff series, as they beat St Louis 5-3 over the weekend.

Winnipeg set the standard during the regular season and have flat out dominated St Louis in recent years.
