Tampa Bay Lightning Form

Tampa Bay never trailed as they beat Florida 4-2 in round one and Carolina 4-1 in round two, but they found themselves in that spot after Game 1 of this semi-final series.

The Lightning produced and uncharacteristically sloppy performance at times as they fell to a surprise 2-1 loss on the home ice.

They responded well in Game 2 though, taking a 4-1 lead into the final few minutes of the game before New York added what was nothing more than a late consolation goal to make it 4-2.

With the series now level at 1-1 Tampa head out on the road for back-to-back games in Uniondale and they head there in great form having gone 5-1 on the road in the postseason so far.

They will head there without Anders Nilsson (concussion) and Marian Gaborik (back), who both remain sidelined indefinitely.

New York Islanders Form

New York have been racking up the upsets so far in this season’s playoffs, dumping out Pittsburgh and Boston to make it to the semi-finals.

They bounced back from 2-1 down to win three straight games and oust the Penguins, and then did the exact same thing to see off the Bruins.

The upsets did not end there though, as the Islanders shut down Tampa Bay on their own ice to win Game 1 of this semi-finals, 2-1, in Florida.

New York were brought back down to Earth by a 4-2 loss in Game 2 and they will be keen to bounce back in their first game at home, where they have gone 4-2 since the playoffs started.

The Islanders could have Michael Dal Colle available after he was removed from the injury report, while Olivier Wahlstrom has also been taken off the list.

However, there is no change in the statuses of Anders Lee (knee) and Johnny Boychuk (eye), who are both out.
