Vegas can bounce back from a shock Game 2 loss to regain the series lead.

Head To Head

  • Montreal Canadiens lead the all-time series 6-2

Vegas Golden Knights Form & Team News

Vegas won a marathon seven-game clash with Minnesota in round one and needed six games to upset Colorado in the last round.

They have made a fast start to this series with Montreal though, storming to a 4-1 victory in Game 1 on the home ice.

The Golden Knights were flying after that one, averaging 4.2 goals per game over their previous five matchups while averaging a win margin of 2.4 goals per game.

However, they lost their clinical edge and came up against some stubborn play from the Montreal goalie in Game 2, resulting in a shock 3-2 loss.

The Canadiens will look to bounce back on the road but they may have to do it with Chandler Stephenson (upper body) who is day-to-day.

He joins Tomas Nosek (undisclosed) and Peyton Krebs (jaw) on the injury report – the pair have been listed day-to-day for a couple of weeks now.

Montreal Canadiens Form & Team News

Montreal’s run to the semi-final has been full of surprises – they came back from the brink against Toronto to stun the Maple Leafs in Game 7 and then swept Winnipeg in four games.

They now have their sights set on an even bigger upset and they have already pulled off one surprise in this series with Vegas.

The Canadiens saw their seven-game win streak come to a shuddering halt as they lost 4-1 to the Golden Knights in Game 1, but they hit back in Game 2.

Montreal benefited from Vegas profligacy and also had goalie Carey Price to thank as they held on for a 3-2 victory, and they have now have a shot at taking the series lead on the home ice.

They will have Jeff Petry and Jon Merrill to call upon after they returned in Game 2, but they remain without two other men.

Jake Evans (concussion) and Jonathan Drouin (personal) are both still sidelined ‘indefinitely’.
