Mark Johnston concedes that his filly Raffle Prize isn't certain to get the one-mile trip in this year's 1,000 Guineas, but has said he has seen signs of encouragement in recent weeks.

Providing horse racing in the United Kingdom returns in the coming weekst, he Middleham handler will target the Newmarket fillies' Classic with his daughter of Slade Power, despite a niggling worry over her stamina and cites the case of his 2004 Guineas winner Attraction as a source of positivity.

Attraction was unbeaten in five starts before reporting for Guineas duty, with four of those wins coming over five-furlongs.

Raffle Prize won three of six starts last season and never finished outside the first two. Her highlights came in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket, both Group Two events.

The season ended with two second place finishes in Group One races - at Deauville's Prix Morny and Newmarket's Cheveley Park Stakes.

"There's got to be some doubts about whether she'll get the trip, which brings memories of Attraction as that was the great doubt with her," Johnston said.

"Pedigree-wise we had some doubts about whether Raffle Prize could get the mile, but physically she's done well over the winter and looks more like a miler now than she did as a two-year-old, so we're very hopeful."
