Oxford and Cambridge will meet for the 166th time in the annual Boat Race on Sunday, April 4, but who will come out on top in one British sport's most anticipated battles?

The 2021 race moves from the Thames in London to the Great Ouse at Ely in Cambridgeshire, but will that give the light blue Cambridge boat an advantage?

Where is the 2021 Boat Race being held?

The traditional Boat Race course along a 4.2-mile stretch of the River Thames in London is out of action due to Hammersmith Bridge being closed.

The bridge, one of the landmarks along the route which runs from Putney Bridge to Chiswick Bridge, is closed to traffic over it and boats underneath it due to cracking.

Instead, the 166th Boat Race will take place on the Great Ouse in at Ely in Cambridgeshire. It will be the first time it has taken place in Ely since 1944.

The event will be closed to spectators.

Verdict

Cambridge have won the last two boat races staged and three of the last four. They have had the measure of Oxford in recent years and can make the most of the advantage of racing on the Great Ouse.
