Chelsea are reportedly close to sealing a deal to bring Philippe Coutinho to Stamford Bridge. The agreement with Barcelona appears to be near with London rivals Arsenal and other top Premier League clubs also interested in the Brazilian international.

Coutinho moved from Liverpool to Barcelona for £142million in January 2018, but failed to become a first team regular and was loaned to Bayern Munich last summer.

The Blues are hoping to sign the 27-year-old from the Spanish giants when he returns to Barcelona from his loan spell at the end of this season.

Coutinho has registered nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for the Bundesliga club this season, but the German champions are reportedly reluctant to exercise their £105 million option to make the move permanent.

Chelsea and Arsenal are not the only Premier League club interested in Coutinho, with Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly among the clubs discussing a possible move.

Catalan publication Sport have hinted the Blues are leading the charge however, and are close to acquiring the Brazilian after contacting Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian.

Coutinho is reportedly keen to return to England where he flourished for Liverpool. His big money move to Barcelona didn’t go as planned and he lasted 18 months in Spain, scoring 21 goals in 76 appearances before joining Bayern on loan.

He struggled to find a place in the team full of superstars including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and his lack of impact at the Nou Camp could see Liverpool miss out on a significant portion of the fee that included performance related clauses.
