Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has expressed a desire to end his career on his own terms, but admits he is unsure about his plans beyond this season.

Cavani, who joined PSG from Napoli in 2013, has been prolific for the Ligue 1 giants, scoring 200 goals in 300 games in all competitions during his seven seasons in the French capital.

However, his playing time has becom limited as a result of the competition for places at the Parc des Princes, with the Uruguay international competing with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi for a place in Thomas Tuchel's starting line-up.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe.

Speaking to PSG's official magazine, Cavani admits he doesn't know what the future will bring but hopes to have a say in the matter.

"My career will last for maybe several years still, here or elsewhere, I don't know," he said.

"I've spoken about it a lot with my entourage. I've always said that I would like to quit football rather than football quitting me.

"I'd really like to finish having given everything. I don't want life to lead me to play when I wouldn't be capable of giving my best."
