A horse racing punter got 2021 off to a bang after landing almost £60,000 from a Lucky 31 bet on New Year's Day.
The fantastic win saw a Coral customer scoop £59,971 from a 50p each-way Lucky 31 bet totalling £62 placed online.
The punter, from Farnborough in Hampshire, backed all five winners on their bet at Musselburgh, including 22/1, 10/1 and 8/1 shots.
The second leg of the bet, Blakeney Point (1.55 Musselburgh), was successful by just a head, while Eagle Ridge (2.30 Musselburgh), scored by the narrow margin on a nose in leg three.
“What a fantastic start to the New Year for our customer who had an afternoon they will never forget. Winners were not easy to find at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day, but our punter from Farnborough had no trouble,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“Two of the selections in the bet were involved in photo finishes, with the outcome going the way of the punter by the narrowest of margins,” added Hill.
