The fillies and mares who lined up in Thursday's Yorkshire Oaks had plenty to live up to, following Baaeed's stunning performance in the Juddmonte International Stakes the previous day.

Alpinista entered the stalls as the 15/8 favourite. Sir Mark Prescott's star had won four Group Ones in Germany and France, and was going for her sixth victory in a row on her return to Britain.

Money came for Aidan O'Brien's Oaks winner, Tuesday before the off, with fellow Irish raiders La Petite Coco and Magical Lagoon also well supported.

Magical Lagoon made the running when she won the Irish Oaks, and Shane Foley took his mount straight to the front once again. Alpinista also broke quickly, with La Petite Coco also going forward to help set the pace.

Tuesday settled on the rail, just ahead of French raider Raclette. Karl Burke's outsider, Poptronic settled at the rear, alongside William Haggas' representative, Lilac Road.

Turning for home, Magical Lagoon was the first to come under pressure. La Petite Coco began to press on, as Luke Morris angled Alpinista out to have a crack at the leader.

The favourite soon took command of the race, reeling in Paddy Twomey's star. Tuesday came through to make Morris' mount work for her victory, but it was Alpinista's day and Sir Mark Prescott's mare extended her unbeaten run with a fifth Group One triumph.

Tuesday did her reputation no harm with a solid runner-up finish. La Petite Coco kept on well to finish a clear third, ahead of Lilac Road and Magical Lagoon.
