Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers Predictions

Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are two of the game's greats and the quarterbacks clash with a place in the Super Bowl at stake. Brady leads head to heads between the rivals at 2-1.

Tampa Bay have a dreadful record at Lambeau Field, losing 15 of their last 16 visits. But they didn't have Brady then. Expect them to put up a fight in a high-scoring NFC decider that could go either way.

  • Green Bay Packers are top seeds in the NFL playoffs after winning the NFC North with a 13-3 record.
  • Green Bay Packers have won their last 7 matches.
  • Green Bay Packers have won 14 of their last 15 games at Lambeau Field.
  • Green Bay Packers have scored 30+ points in 7 of their last 8 matches.
  • Green Bay Packers have lost their last three NFC Championship games.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished runners-up in NFC South with an 11-5 record.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won their last 6 matches.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers have scored 30+ points in their last 5 matches.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost 15 of their last 16 matches at Lambeau Field.

Head to Head

In the last 10 meetings between the sides, it is an even 5-5 in the head to head. The Buccaneers levelled that score when manhandling the Packers to win 38-13 at home back in Week 6.

Tampa Bay have a poor record on the road at Green Bay, losing on 15 of their last 16 visits to Lambeau Field. It was an overtime defeat the last time they headed north in 2017.

Green Bay Packers Form

Green Bay Packers entered the playoffs as the number one seeds having won the NFC North with a 13-3 record after ending the season with six straight wins.

MVP favourite Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offence has been seriously impressive all season. They showed that again in a 32-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams in last week's Divisional Round.

The Packers were near-perfect last week in their win against the Rams. Green Bay's playcalling kept a very good Rams defence guessing throughout, while the offensive line gave Rodgers the time needed to find the likes of Davante Adams and Allen Lazard.

With snow predicted, home advantage could be key. But the Packers have lost their last three NFC Conference finals and must put history behind them.

Green Bay Packers Team News

Safety Will Redmond has return to full practice after a knee injury. Several team-mates have had their week disrupted and will be face decisions on game day.

They include linebacker Krys Barnes (thumb), kicker Mason Crosby (shoulder), running backs Jamaal Williams (ankle) and AJ Dillon (quad), defensive lineman Kingsley Keke (concussion), wide receivers Equanimeous St Brown (knee) and Allen Lazard (wrist), tight end Marcedes Lewis (knee), pass rusher Za'Darius Smith (thumb) and offensive tackle Rick Wagner (knee).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Form

Quarterback Tom Brady led the Bucs to their first playoff appearance since the 2007 season, and the Super Bowl dream remains on.

Tampa Bay claimed a 31-23 Wild Card Round win over Washington and followed it up with a 30-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints in last week's Divisional Round.

The key for the Buccaneers in last week’s victory over the Saints was defence. It was a huge three-interception day from the Tampa Bay defence.

Brady was exceptional against New Orleans. After reaching 13 AFC Championship games with the New England Patriots, this will be his first NFC decider for the Bucs. Can he produce the goods to reach a 10th Super Bowl?

The Bucs will need a similar performance again, something they managed against the Packers in Week 6 when forcing Rodgers into two interceptions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team News

The Bucs have doubts over the fitness of outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul and wide receiver Antonio Brown through knee injuries.

Wide receivers  Mike Evans (knee) and Chris Godwin (quad), running back Ronald Jones (quad), cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (quad) and safety Jordan Whitehead (knee) have all returned to training and will be available for selection.

Verdict

Home advantage in the predicted conditions could be key, but the Packers are too short given their recent record in NFC deciders.

Tom Brady got the better of Aaron Rodgers earlier in the season and this one could go either way. What does look guaranteed is points from both sides, with over 51 the best bet.
