Edmonton will look to bounce back from a season-opening loss when they go out on the road.

The Elks opened their season at home to Saskatchewan and fell to a 17-13 defeat last Sunday night.

It was a disappointing start for a team looking to better a poor 2022 regular season that saw them finish bottom of the West Division.

Edmonton opened with a 59-15 blowout loss to the BC Lions and never really recovered as they won just four times all season.

The Elks lost each of their final three games as they finished 4-14 – the joint worst record in the entire league.

BC go into their home opener looking to build on last weekend’s good road win at Calgary.

The Lions, a leading contender to lift the Grey Cup this season, ran out 25-15 when they visited the Stampeders a week ago.

It was a good start for a team who also made a strong start to 2022, before fading in the second half of the campaign.

BC won eight of their first nine games of the season, but won just four of their remaining nine to go into the playoffs in mixed form.

The Lions did beat Calgary 30-16 in the West Semi-Final, but bowed out in the West Final as they lost 28-20 to Winnipeg.
