Edmonton are tipped to cover as they win for the first time this season.

The Elks have pushed some good teams to the limit in those losses and they could be facing an Ottawa team without its starting QB.

Ottawa head out on the road on the back of a defeat but having made a decent start to the season.

The Redblacks won only four games last season, but at this early stage in 2024 they are already halfway to that total.

Having sat out Week 1 on a bye, they pulled off a big upset in their season-opener as they knocked off Winnipeg at home, 23-19.

Ottawa failed to build on that as they were beaten 47-21 at defending champions Montreal a week later, but they hit back immediately to beat Hamilton 24-22 at home.

The Redblacks again failed to back up a win though, as they went back out on the road to lose 25-16 in Winnipeg last time out.

Edmonton Elks Form

Edmonton emerge from their first bye week of the season still seeking a first win, having gone 0-4 through five weeks.

The Elks opened up the campaign at home and suffered a 29-21 defeat at the hands of Saskatchewan.

They stayed home for their Week 2 outing as well, but again they failed to make the most of home advantage as they lost 23-20 to defending champions Montreal.

Edmonton went out on the road for the first time a week later, and despite their best offensive display of the season they lost 39-36 in Toronto.

The Elks then fell to 0-4 as they suffered another narrow defeat last week, losing 24-21 at the BC Lions.

Verdict

Edmonton are winless, but they have been in all four of the games that they have lost.

A meeting with an Ottawa team that could be starting its backup QB could be perfect timing for the Elks.
