Winnipeg head to Saskatchewan having kick-started their season with back-to-back wins to improve to 2-4.

The Blue Bombers have been a fixture of the Grey Cup in recent years, but made a miserable start to 2024 as they lost their first four games.

They opened the season with a 27-12 defeat to Montreal in a rematch of last year’s Grey Cup, and then fell to a 23-19 defeat in Ottawa.

Winnipeg’s slump then reached four games as they were beaten 26-24 at home by the BC Lions and 22-19 (OT) on the road in Calgary.

The Blue Bombers finally got off the mark in Week 5 though, as they beat Ottawa 25-16, and they backed that up by avenging that Week 4 loss to the Stampeders with a 41-37 victory at home.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Form

Saskatchewan enter this matchup on the back of a loss but having made a good start to the season, with four wins in their first five games.

The Roughriders raced out of the blocks with a four-game win streak, starting with a 29-21 victory in Edmonton.

They then headed to Hamilton for a 33-30 victory, before returning home to beat the Tiger-Cats 36-20 a week later.

That took Saskatchewan into their first bye week of the season with a 3-0 record, and when they returned to action they improved to 4-0 with a 30-23 win over Toronto.

The Roughriders failed to make it five-in-a-row though, as they were beaten 35-20 in British Columbia a week ago.

Saskatchewan are off to a good start, but that 4-1 record feels mis-leading.

Winnipeg are gaining momentum and have dominated the Roughriders for several years, so give us the Blue Bombers on the road.
