Arizona State vs Texas Predictions & Tips

Underdogs Arizona State are tipped to cover a two-touchdown spread in Peach Bowl.

Texas are the better team and are in good form, but they struggled for covers in the second half of the season, unlike the Sun Devils who can ride Cam Skattebo to stay within a couple of scores.

  • Texas have failed to cover in 5 of their last 8 games
  • Texas have not covered in 3 of their last 5 games as a double digit favourite
  • Arizona State have covered in 10 of their 12 games
  • The Under has cashed in 7 of Texas’ last 10 games (1 push)

Head To Head

  • Texas lead the all-time series 1-0
  • Texas won 52-34 when the two teams last met in December 2007

Arizona State Form

Arizona State went 11-2 and won the Big 12 Championship to earn themselves a first-round bye in the College Football Playoffs.

The Sun Devils dropped their conference opener at Texas Tech, 30-23, and later lost 24-14 in Cincinnati to deliver a setback to their Big 12 hopes.

However, they responded to that adversity in impression fashion, reeling off five consecutive victories.

Arizona State beat two ranked teams along the way, Kansas State 24-14 and BYU 28-23, before sealing a place in the championship game with a 49-7 blowout of Arizona.

The Sun Devils then claimed the Big 12 crown in dominant fashion, putting on a show in the second half as they took down Iowa State, 45-19.

Texas Form

Texas missed out on a first-round bye as they lost to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

The Longhorns opened the season with a string convincing wins, including a 31-12 victory when they visited defending national champions Michigan.

Their perfect start came to an end in their seventh outing however, as they were beaten 30-15 at home by Georgia.

Texas rebounded with five straight wins to secure a trip to the SEC Championship Game, setting up a rematch with the Bulldogs.

The Longhorns again came up short against the Dawgs though, as they suffered a 22-19 overtime defeat in the conference championship.

They bounced back in the opening round of the playoffs though, fending off a gritty Clemson team in a 38-24 victory.
