The Jayhawks began the season with a routine win over Missouri State, beating the Bears, 48-17 at home.

They backed that up a week later with a 34-23 win against Illinois, before heading out on the road for the first time this season.

Kansas were able to make it three-in-a-row on their travels, scoring a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal a 31-24 victory.

The Jayhawks then returned home for their Big 12 opener and secured a 38-27 victory over BYU.

Texas enter their second conference game of the season with a perfect 4-0 record that has propelled them to #3 in the rankings.

The Longhorns opened the season ranked outside of the top 10 and set themselves up for a big clash with #3 Alabama by beating Rice 37-10.

They then recorded a 34-24 victory over the Crimson Tide on the road, lifting them to #4 after two games.

Texas avoided a huge letdown a week later, beating Wyoming 31-10 at home, and that was enough to move them up to #3 in the rankings.
