Notre Dame head to Stanford looking to wrap up the regular season with a win and an 9-3 record.

The Fighting Irish won their first four games of the season, but a tough run of games after that brought mixed results.

They blew a late lead to lose 17-14 at home to #6 Ohio State, only to rebound with a 21-14 victory at #16 Duke.

Notre Dame then lost 33-20 at #25 Louisville, before returning home to down #10 USC, 48-20, and Pittsburgh, 58-7.

The Fighting Irish failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 31-23 at Clemson, but they did win their home finale last weekend, blowing out Wake Forest in a 45-7 win.

Stanford come into this game having lost back-to-back games to fall to 3-8 for the season.

The Cardinal opened with a 37-24 win at Hawaii, but they were blown out 56-10 by #6 USC a week later and there has not been much joy since.

They did take down Colorado on the road in October, winning 46-43, but they won just one of their next five games.

That victory saw Stanford battle to a 10-7 victory when the visited Washington State at the start of the month.

Since then the Cardinal have been blown out 62-17 at #12 Oregon State, and lost 27-15 at home to California.
