Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers Predictions & Tips

Detroit are tipped to cover a small spread in a big divisional win.

The Lions have covered consistently dating back to last season and have made the more impressive start to 2023.

They also have a great recent spread record against Green Bay, so we are backing the Lions here.

  • Detroit Lions have covered in 11 of their last 13 games
  • Detroit have covered in 10 of their last 12 games against Green Bay
  • The Under has cashed in 4 of Detroit’s last 5 games
  • The Under has hit in 6 of Detroit’s last 9 meetings with Green Bay

Head To Head

  • Green Bay Packers lead the all-time series 105-75-7
  • Detroit Lions won 20-16 when the two teams last met on January 8

Detroit Lions Form

Detroit head to Green Bay for this big NFC North showdown with a 2-1 record after last weekend’s win.

The Lions narrowly missed out on the playoffs last year despite a late surge, but came into the 2023 campaign with plenty of hype surrounding them.

They made a dream start too to live up that hype, beating the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs on the road, 21-20.

Detroit were brought back down to Earth with a bump in their home opener, losing 37-31 in overtime to Seattle.

The Lions issued an immediate response to that loss though, shutting down Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta offense in a 20-6 victory.

Green Bay Packers Form

Green Bay entered this short week on the back of a victory in their home opener that improved them to 2-1.

Like the Lions, the Packers also made a great start to the season as they comfortably beat long-time rivals, Chicago, on the road, 38-20.

They failed to build on that victory a week later though, as they blew a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter to lose 25-24 in Atlanta.

Green Bay were out-scored 13-0 in the final period of that game, and the offensive issues continued through the first three quarters against New Orleans.

The Packers trailed 17-0 heading into the final 11 minutes, but came storming back to snatch an 18-17 win.

Verdict

Both teams have identical records, but Detroit are the better of the two teams.

They swept Green Bay last season and are backed to take the first step towards doing that again this time around.
