The Wolverines opened the season with three-dominant non-conference wins, beating Colorado State 51-7, Hawaii 56-10 and Connecticut 59-0.

They kicked off conference play with a 34-27 home win against Maryland, and built on that with a couple of road wins, beating Iowa 27-14 and Indiana 31-10.

Michigan then knocked off their first ranked opponent of the season, blowing out #10 Penn State 41-17.

They followed that up with a 29-7 win against Michigan State, before heading out on the road to beat Rutgers 52-17.

The wins kept coming as Michigan then beat Nebraska 34-3 and Illinois 19-17 to set up a huge showdown with Ohio State.

The Wolverines came out on top, registering a 45-23 win at the home of their biggest rival.

Purdue Form

Purdue ended their regular season with three consecutive wins to finish with an 8-4 record.

The Boilermakers got off to a slow start as they sandwiched a 56-0 shutout of Indiana State with defeats to Penn State (35-31) and Syracuse (32-29).

They kick-started their season with a 28-26 win against Florida Atlantic that was followed by a 20-10 upset of #21 Minnesota on the road.

Purdue then downed Maryland 31-29 before returning home to beat Nebraska 43-37, but their streak was halted at four games.

The Boilermakers were beaten 35-24 at Wisconsin and then produced their worst offensive display of the season in a 24-3 home loss to Iowa.

They hit back a week later though to knock off #21 Illinois, and then wrapped up the regular season with wins against Northwestern (17-9) and Indiana (30-16).
