The defense is unlikely to have many issues slowing a New York offense without Saquon Barkley.

And on the opposite side of the football, the offense is backed to continue putting up plenty of points.

New York head to San Francisco on a short week looking to build on their first win of the season.

The Giants made it all the way to the playoffs in Brian Daboll’s first season as head coach, and hopes were high coming into the 2023 season.

They got off to a miserable start though, getting shut out as they suffered an embarrassing 40-0 loss at home to Dallas.

New York needed to issue an immediate response last weekend, and while they got the win they needed in Arizona, it was an ugly one.

The Giants trailed 20-0 at the half to one of the worst teams in the league, but found some life on offense after the restart as they out-scored the Cardinals 31-8 to win the game 31-28.

San Francisco 49ers Form

San Francisco go into their home opener with a perfect record, thanks to back-to-back road wins.

Much is expected of the 49ers this season, after they saw their 2022 campaign get derailed by a bunch of injuries to quarterbacks, and they sent a message on opening night.

They dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers on route to a 30-7 victory, with the defense sacking Kenny Pickett five times and picking him off twice.

San Francisco made harder work of their Week 2 outing in Los Angeles, but they did leave with a 30-23 victory.

The 49ers defense again record two interceptions, while Christian McCaffrey rushed for over 100 yards and a touchdown for the second game in a row.

Verdict

NY Giants @ SF 49ers

Losing Saquon Barkley on a short week on the road is horrendous news for New York.

Without their biggest weapon it is very difficult to see the Giants hanging with San Francisco here.
