Super Bowl LV MVP Predictions

Opposing quarterbacks Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) dominate the betting for the Most Valuable Player.

The MVP almost always comes from the eventual Super Bowl winner, making it a likely straight fight between Brady and Mahomes. But is there value in steering away from the quarterbacks with three of the last seven winners not being playmakers?

Brady is our choice of the two quarterbacks and Bucs running back Leonard Fournette is a value selection.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is a four-time winner
  • Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the MVP award last year
  • 16 of the last 20 MVP award winners have been quarterbacks
  • 3 of the last 7 MVP award winners have not been quarterbacks

Super Bowl MVP Tips: Tom Brady

The six-time Super Bowl champion will be playing in his 10th Super Bowl. Brady already has four MVP awards in his locker and could be set for a fifth.

In his first season with Tampa Bay, Brady led the Bucs to their first playoff appearance since the 2007 season. Now he has home advantage in the Super Bowl inside Raymond James Stadium.

Brady won the MVP award when leading the New England Patriots to glory in 2002, 2004, 2015 and 2017 and is poised to become one of the NFL greatest ever.

His opponent Patrick Mahomes is the young pretender with the Chiefs quarterback lifting the MVP award 12 months ago.

But I'm backing the Bucs to upset the defending Super Bowl champions, and for that reason we have to have Brady as the top MVP selection.

Super Bowl MVP Tips: Leonard Fournette

Running back Fournette has enjoyed a dream first season with Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Having moved from the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars when released just days before the new season, he has really found his home playing alongside Tom Brady.

The former no. 1 high school recruit and top-five draft pick has come of age and he could walk away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the MVP on Sunday.

Fournette scored six touchdowns in the regular season, which was disrupted, and has added two in the playoffs.

The most significant was his TD in the championship game against the Green Bay Packers. He made 74 yards in that game and is a wild card for the MVP award.
