Houston head out on the road looking to bounce back quickly from a season-opening defeat.
The Roughnecks went 8-12 in regular season action during a two-year run as the Houston Gamblers in the USFL.
They missed out on the playoffs in both of those campaigns, but an improved 5-5 campaign in 2023 gave reason for optimism after the merger between the USFL and the XFL.
Houston survived the merger, taking over the Roughnecks branding from the original XFL team, but they once again made a losing start to a season.
This time the Roughnecks opened up at home against Memphis, and they suffered an 18-12 defeat at the hands of the Showboats.
DC Defenders Form
DC go into their home opener looking to rebound from a disappointing road defeat in their season-opener.
The Defenders came into the first UFL season as one of the leading contenders to lift the trophy after a strong showing in the XFL last year.
They went 9-1 during the regular season and made it all the way to the XFL Championship Game, only to suffer a surprise 37-21 defeat at the hands of Arlington.
It was no surprise that DC survived the merger between the USFL and the XFL, but what was surprising was a loss on opening day.
The Defenders visited a new-look San Antonio team on opening weekend and fell to a 27-12 defeat.
Verdict
Both teams lost last time out, but DC offer more reasons for optimism.
