Michigan head to Memphis looking to rebound from a defeat that has left them 2-2 through four weeks.

The Panthers pulled off an upset on opening weekend as Jake Bates’ 64-yard field goal lifted them to an 18-16 win over St Louis.

They failed to build on that a week later though, as they were beaten 20-13 at home to the back-to-back USFL champion Birmingham Stallions.

Michigan rebounded immediately with a 34-20 victory over Houston, but they were unable to follow that up in their first road game.

The Panthers were beaten 19-9 when they visited San Antonio to take on the Brahmas last weekend.

Memphis Showboats Form

Memphis return home in desperate need of a win after losing each of their last three games to fall to 1-3.

The Showboats made a successful start to the season as they downed Houston, 18-12, at home on opening weekend.

They failed to back that up a week later though, as they squandered a late lead to lose 20-19 to San Antonio in their home opener.

Memphis then went back out on the road for their next two games, and they have been unable to turn it around.

The Showboats were beaten 33-14 when they visited Birmingham, and then lost 32-17 when they headed to St Louis.

This has ‘low-scoring game’ written all over it because neither offense has been piling up points.

And in a close game I tend to lean towards the better defense, and it is the Panthers who have given up the fewest points so far.
