San Antonio are tipped to cover as they win on the road.

The 2024 Brahmas are a huge improvement on the 2023 group and did an impressive number on DC in Week 1.

San Antonio Brahmas Form

San Antonio head out on the road for the first time this season looking to build on a surprise victory.

The Brahmas went 3-7 in the XFL a year ago, but underwent major changes following the merger between that league and the USFL.

Wade Phillips replaced head coach Hines Ward and brought over much of his coaching staff that took Houston to the XFL playoffs.

San Antonio also brought in some standout players from both Houston and other XFL teams, including Jontre Kirklin and Cody Latimer.

These moves paid off on opening weekend as the Brahmas upset a DC Defenders team who made it all the way to the XFL Championship Game a year ago, winning 27-12.

Memphis Showboats Form

Memphis go into their opening home game of 2024 looking to build on the season-opening win in Houston.

The Showboats replaced Tampa Bay in the 2023 version of the USFL and went 5-5 during their debut season in spring football.

That campaign included a five-game win streak, but a couple of defeats late in the regular season cost them a place in the playoffs.

Memphis survived the merger with the XFL despite that disappointment, and boosted the quarterback position in the offseason by signing former Philadelphia Stars starter Case Cookus.

Cookus made his debut last weekend and was able to lead the team to an 18-12 win at Houston.

Both teams enjoyed winning starts to the season as their defenses dominated.

The Brahmas showed more on offense though, so we are leaning towards San Antonio reaching 2-0.
