Houston Gamblers Form

Houston have overcome a rough start to the season to establish themselves as contenders.

The Gamblers struggled in 2022, and more of the same looked to be on the cards as they dropped their opening two games of the season.

They were beaten 29-13 by Michigan, before dropping a one-score meeting with New Orleans, 38-31.

Houston stopped the rot with a 30-26 victory over Memphis, and then backed that up with a 41-16 demolition of Philadelphia.

The Gamblers then knocked off defending champions Birmingham, 27-20, before making it four wins in a row with a 16-10 success against New Jersey.

Memphis Showboats Form

Just like their opponents on Sunday, Memphis have also overcome a bad start to put themselves in playoff contention.

The Showboats opened the season with a 27-23 defeat to Philadelphia, and then suffered a heavy 42-2 defeat to Birmingham.

Their losing start continued with a 30-26 defeat to Houston, but they have managed to turn things around since then.

Memphis finally got off the mark in Week 4 as they knocked off Michigan, 29-10, at Ford Field.

The Showboats followed that up with a 17-10 upset of previously unbeaten New Orleans, before shutting out Pittsburgh in a 22-0 win.
