Michigan take a 3-5 record into this game but that is good enough to put them second in the North.

The Panthers made a strong start to the season as they won back-to-back road games, beating Houston 29-13 and Philadelphia 24-10.

They failed to build on that though, losing 28-13 to New Jersey in their first ever home game at Ford Field.

That sparked a run of four consecutive home losses for Michigan, as they were beaten 29-10 by Memphis, 23-7 by Pittsburgh and 27-13 by Birmingham.

The Panthers stopped the rot when they went back out on the road last week though, downing New Jersey 25-22.

Pittsburgh Maulers Form

Pittsburgh enter Week 9 one game behind Michigan in the North, having now lost three straight games.

The Maulers made a rough start to the season as they followed up a 22-15 loss to New Orleans with a 20-3 defeat to New Jersey.

They finally got off the mark in Week 3 with a 21-13 upset of Philadelphia, and they then bounced back from a 24-20 loss to Birmingham with a 23-7 win over Michigan.

Pittsburgh have not lost since though, starting a three-game losing skid with a 22-0 shutout defeat to Memphis.

The Maulers then lost 37-31 to Philadelphia a week later, before falling to 2-6 for the season with a 20-19 loss to Houston.
