Betting On The XFL

Options are limited at this time with the main betting markets ones you would typically expect to see from an American Football league – Moneyline, Spread and Total Points.

Moneyline - The moneyline simply gives you the chance to bet on who will win the game. Ties are rare in the US sport, with teams going to overtime if the score is tied at the end of regulation, so bookmakers usually take a different approach to what they do for soccer’s Full-Time/1x2 market, which traditionally covers regulation time. For the XFL, the moneyline market includes overtime.

Spread - The spread market is also known as the handicap market. Bookmakers will assign one team a positive (+) or negative (-) spread, line or handicap depending on favouritism for the game, and the bettor bets to cover the line.

Let’s use an XFL game between the Houston Roughnecks and St Louis Battlehawks as an example. If the Battlehawks start with a +3.5 point spread and you bet on the Battlehawks, they need to win the game or lose by less than four points in order for your bet to win.

On the other side of the coin, the Roughnecks would be assigned a -3.5 point spread meaning they would need to win by four or more points in order for your bet on the Roughnecks to be a winner.

Total Points - This XFL betting market allows bettors to bet on the total amount of points scored in a game by both teams. The sportsbook will set a line, let’s say 36.5 points and you can bet on the total points scored by both teams going over or under that total.
