Olympic Games 100m Odds – Trayvon Bromell 5/4 Favourite To Win Men’s 100m Gold
- Trayvon Bromell bookies favourite to win men’s Olympic 100m gold
- Ronnie Baker and Akani Simbine considered Bromell’s biggest threat
- Zharnel Hughes considered GB’s best chance for 100m gold in Tokyo
Trayvon Bromell is the bookmakers’ favourite to join the list of legendary names that have Olympic won gold in the men’s 100m.
Usain Bolt has dominated this event in recent years, taking gold at each of the last three Games.
The Jamaican legend retired four years ago and that means there will be a fresh face on the top spot of the podium in 2021.
William Hill believes that man will be US sprinter Trayvon Bromell.
The 26-year-old won bronze at the last World Championships in 2015 and took gold in the 60m at the World Indoor Championships a year later.
Bromell has been forced to undergo two Achilles operations in recent years, but he bounced back from them to win the US Olympic trials and seal his spot on Team USA.
He also boasts the fastest time recorded this year (9.77 seconds), so it is no surprise to see the bookies backing him at 5/4.
Fellow American Ronnie Baker is considered his biggest threat at 9/2 having finished second in the US trials.
African star Akani Simbine, who won at the Diamond League meeting in Florence in June, is next up at 11/2.
Andre De Grasse became the first Canadian sprinter to win three medals at a Games four years ago, and he is 8/1 to go from bronze in 2016 to gold in 2021.
Fred Kerley, who placed third in the US trials, is 9/1, with Zharnel Hughes leading the charge for Great Britain at 16/1.
Hughes, the current European champion, was awarded a spot on Team GB despite false-starting in the final of the British Championships.
