Player Guide For APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024

The APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 kicked off September 27 with 108 trophy events on its schedule; the series will conclude October 7. 

In this player guide we have listed venues for APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024, along with accommodation options for players who travel from different destinations. We have also added recommendations for dining and entertainment. 

Given the heavy-duty series schedule, it’s no surprise that the APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 is hosted at two venues: CTP Asia Poker Arena and the Chinese Mahjong League (CML). 

Both venues are located in Taipei. Both locations are 40-minute taxi rides from Taoyuan International Airport.

The majority of tournaments will take place at CTP Asia Poker Arena located in Zhongzheng District, while the High Roller and Mixed Games tournaments will be held at CML in nearby Songshan District.

Taking a taxi is the easiest method to travel from the airport to either of the two venues. Alternatively, players can arrange an airport pick-up or drop-off through APT's travel partner, Travel As Locals. 

The rates for the same range from $36 for two people with luggage to $49 for four people with luggage (one way). 

For players who prefer public transport, the Airport Line (Express) train connects directly to Taipei Main Station in about 80 minutes. 

From there, a quick five-minute walk will take players to Rear Station, where they can catch bus #52 to Zhongshan Girls High School (nine stops away, approximately 13 minutes).

Another option is to walk five minutes to Beimen Station from Taipei Main Station and take the Songshan-Xindian MRT for two stops to Songjiang Nanjing Station. The CTP Asia Poker Arena is then a 10-minute walk.

APT events are well attended, especially in Taipei. To save time, it’s advisable to apply for your APT Registration Card online. This will enable players to grind in all future APT events and help in streamlining your registration process.

 Taipei has numerous hotels catering to various budgets and preferences. Remember that APT has partnerships with Travel As Locals and DK Poker Tour Bookings which provide suitable accommodations near both venues.

If players are concerned about finding food that suits your palate while in Taipei, there are plenty of dining options close to the event venues. The city offers a diverse array of cuisines including American barbecue, Chinese dishes, Indian fare, Japanese selections, Korean meals, among others. 

For meat lovers, Baba Kevin's American Barbecue serves up smoked meats prepared in traditional Texas style. Located at Alley 8, Lane 303, Section 3 on Nanjing E Road in Songshan District, it’s just an eight-to-ten minute cab ride from the tournament venues.

In Zhongshan District at No. 128 Songjiang Road lies Yang Shin Vegetarian restaurant. This eatery combines Western culinary techniques with local Taiwanese ingredients and Japanese cooking styles to produce exceptional vegetarian dishes.

Another spot in Zhongshan District at No. 1-1 SonJiang Road is Mayur Indian Kitchen restaurant. This venue offers a blend of Indian and Chinese cuisine along with vegan options and a dedicated shisha lounge.

JUJU Spanish Gastrobar at No. 31 Lane 8 Section 3 Bade Rd in Songshan District is famous for its tapas and traditional Spanish dishes like seafood paella. 

For players looking for British comfort food, Churchill's Sausages specialises in sausages and pies and serves full English breakfast; they are located at Section 7 Zhongshan N Rd in Shilin District.

Players deserve some time off the felts to unwind. Taipei offers a lively nightlife scene filled with bars and entertainment venues where players can relax and enjoy dancing or catch live sports while sipping on cocktails/mocktails.

The highlight of entertainment during this period will be the APT Players Party on October 3. However, if players want to unwind before then, consider visiting HAKU Taipei, Triangle, or James Joyce Irish Bar. For sports fans, Brass Monkey Taipei is a great spot to catch live events.

Players explore the city's famous night markets; Raohe Street Night Market in Songshan District is particularly popular among tourists. These markets operate from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
