Newly eligible nominees Nick Schulman, Scott Seiver, and Phil Galfond highlight the 2025 Poker Hall of Fame finalists. Veteran nominees include Matt Savage and Kathy Liebert.

The Poker Hall of Fame has revealed its list of 10 finalists, with newly eligible nominees Nick Schulman, Scott Seiver, and Phil Galfond highlighting this year's candidates.

Each year, only one individual is inducted into the hall of fame, with Patrik Antonius being the 2024 inductee.

Reflecting on his induction last year, Antonius expressed profound appreciation during the ceremony, stating, “This has really been one of the nicest things for me. I've always been a student of the game and always hoped that poker continues to get bigger and better.”

“And just look at where we are now. It looks like poker has never been as good as it is now—we're breaking records all over the world,” Antonius added further.

Repeat nominees from previous years

Poker fans have submitted their nominations, and the 10 individuals receiving the most votes have progressed to the final round.

The decision now rests with current Poker Hall of Fame members, who will select the single inductee from the following finalists.

Among the veterans on this year's list is Matt Savage, Executive Tour Director for the World Poker Tour (WPT), who has now appeared as a finalist for the 10th time.

WSOP bracelet winner Kathy Liebert, recognized as a pioneer for women in poker, has returned as a nominee, alongside Mike Matusow, notable for his success during the poker boom.

Six-time bracelet winner Ted Forrest has been nominated again, already receiving strong support from current Poker Hall of Famer John Hennigan.

Additionally, Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars, and Jeremy Ausmus, also a six-time bracelet winner, are familiar names regularly appearing among the finalists. John "Miami" Cernuto, who passed away earlier this year, has also been nominated posthumously.

Seiver, Schulman, and Galfond nominated

The new candidates come with impressive credentials. Nick Schulman, highly regarded as one of poker's most popular commentators, recently won his seventh bracelet, prompting support from GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu.

Scott Seiver, the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year, is a high-stakes cash game specialist. Phil Galfond, known online as "OMGClayAiken," is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest Pot-Limit Omaha players in poker history.

Poker Hall of Fame 2025

The final selection by the Poker Hall of Fame members will be announced on July 11, coinciding with the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), just before the commencement of Event #92: $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty.
