Labour have pulled level with the Conservatives in the Hartlepool By-election betting, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.
Labour's Mike Hill, who was first elected to parliament in 2017, this week quit as an MP with immediate effect, triggering a by-election.
Ladbrokes had reacted by making the Conservatives the clear 8/13 favourites in the Hartlepool election betting, but with most of the money having gone on Labour, odds have been slashed from 13/8 to just 10/11 at time of writing.
Elsewhere, 33% of all bets placed so far on the market have been for 50/1 outsiders, the Northern Independence Party.
Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati told FreeTips.com: "The early signs suggest Hartlepool 2021 could beat Peterborough 2019 as the biggest betting by-election ever, with punters seemingly convinced Labour will come out on top."
