Bookmaker Ladbrokes have slashed the odds on Penny Mordaunt replacing Liz Truss as leader of the Conservative Party.

Truss’ stewardship of the party is on increasingly shaky ground and, at 1/6, the bookies believe she could be gone before the end of 2022.

The race to replace her is heating up, with Rishi Sunak the 13/8 favourite just weeks after he lost the battle to replace Boris Johnson.

There is a new second favourite though, after Ladbrokes slashed the odds on Mordaunt from 6/1 to 7/2.

As a result she has leapfrogged Jeremy Hunt, who remains 4/1 in the market.

“Speculation around Liz Truss' replacement is already mounting,” Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati told FreeTips.com.

“The latest odds suggest Penny Mordaunt has every chance of getting the gig.”

Latest Next Conservative Party Leader Odds
