Rishi Sunak is a senior British politician who has served as Chancellor of the Exchequer since February 2020. A member of the Conservative Party, he previously served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury under Chancellor Sajid Javid from July 2019 to February 2020.

He served in Theresa May's second government as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Government. After Mrs May resigned and Boris Johnson became Conservative leader, Sunak was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury, deputising for Chancellor Javid at HM Treasury. He replaced Javid after his resignation in February 2020.
