Brisbane Broncos vs Newcastle Knights Predictions

Brisbane are back home after a two-game away trip and are one of three teams heading into this weekend who still have not had a bye. With that said they do not look like slowing down and with the most wins in the league (10) they are the in-form team.

The Knights are coming off the back of their second bye of the season and their injury concerns from earlier in the year seem to be settling down.

The Knights concede the most run metres of any team in the NRL at 1515m per game, with Brisbane averaging 1493 metres off the back of Payne Haas’ barnstorming runs. Brisbane should win this game comfortably with the amount of attacking possession afforded to them.

  • Brisbane score on average 1 try per 6 tackles in their opposition 20.
  • Only one of the last 6 games between the Broncos and Knights has finished with a margin of less than 12 points.
  • 2 of the last 3 games played between these teams have gone over the total.
  • Newcastle allow the majority of their tries to wingers and centres.

Head to Head

Brisbane have won the last three games in a row against Newcastle with two of those being at Suncorp. All three games have been by margins of over 12 points.

Prior to that the Knights had a four-game win streak stretching back to 2018.

Brisbane Broncos Form

The Broncos had an uplifting win last week against top 8 rivals Cronulla after some poor performances in rounds 11 & 12 against the Storm and Panthers.

Brisbane were also able to put away the Warriors in round 13 without their Origin stars.

Brisbane are 6-0 against teams currently outside of the top 8.

Verdict

The Broncos are on another level this year and whilst the Knights have been competitive and have had some upset wins I can’t see it happening here.

The go forward of the Broncos pack is no match for the flimsy middle defence from Newcastle and Brisbane will have more than enough tackles inside opposition 20 to post points. Kotoni Staggs is peaking at the moment and can cross for a four pointer.
