Brisbane Broncos vs Penrith Panthers Predictions

Although the Broncos have enjoyed a good record against Penrith, the emergence of the Panthers last season included a win at Suncorp Stadium.

They can repeat the victory returning to Brisbane, and cover the -28.5 handicap with a big win.

  • Brisbane Broncos are 1-4 for the season.
  • Brisbane Broncos have lost 15 of their last 16 matches.
  • Brisbane Broncos have lost by 29+ points in their last 2 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers are 5-0 for the season for the first time.
  • Penrith Panthers have won 22 of their last 23 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers have conceded 26 points in 5 matches this season.

Head to Head

Brisbane Broncos have had the better of the Penrith Panthers in recent times, winning four of the last five meetings and seven of the last nine played at Suncorp Stadium.

The Broncos' winning was ended last year when the Panthers won 25-12 at Suncorp last season as they emerged as premiership contenders and Brisbane headed for the wooden spoon.

Brisbane Broncos Form

Having ended their club record losing run three games ago with victory over Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 3, things have turned sour again for the Broncos.

The euphoria of finally getting a win has quickly evaporated by two heavy defeats by 29 and 34 points in the last two matches.

Kevin Walters' side were beaten 40-6 by reigning premiers Melbourne Storm on Good Friday as they shipped seven tries.

Last weekend in Round 5, the Broncos conceded six tries in a 35-6 defeat to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Brisbane Broncos Team News

Broncos coach Kevin Walters has dropped Anthony Milford and named Brodie Croft at five-eighth.

Jesse Arthars comes into the centres in place of Tesi Niu, and Patrick Carrigan is back at lock after suspension last week.

Tevita Pangai Junior moves to the second row with Jordan Riki dropping down to the bench.

Brisbane have lost Ben Te'o for up to three months following surgery on a bicep injury suffered last week.

Penrith Panthers Form

Penrith Panthers are 5-0 for the first time in the club's history after a 30-10 win over Canberra Raiders last weekend.

They were made to work harder than the scoreline suggests, but last year's minor premiers find themselves top of the ladder again after a perfect start.

Wins over North Queensland Cowboys 24-0 and Canterbury Bulldogs 28-0 in the opening two rounds were followed by a 12-10 success over Melbourne Storm in a rematch of last year's Grand Final.

The Panthers then thumped Manly Sea Eagles 44-6 with an eight-try show before getting the better of the Raiders.

Absentees Dylan Edwards and Api Koroisau are 2-4 weeks away from being available once again.
