The Roosters grasped defeat from the jaws of victory last weekend against archrivals the Rabbitohs. They lead 14-8 with less than 20 minutes remaining on the clock with their opposition down to 14 players having both starting halves go off with separate hamstring injuries.

But Sydney were once again their own worst enemy turning the ball over at inopportune moments, unable to capitalise on their dominant possession and territory in the 2nd half of the game.

They then allowed two late tries to their opponent who had just 5 tackles inside 20m in the second stanza to see the game slip out of their grasp.

The Roosters once strong defensive structure has been torn to shreds this season, they rank 12th in opposition run metres, 14th in opposition linebreaks, 14th in opposition tacklse inside 20m and 16th in opposition possession rate.

Billy Smith retains the centre role with Mark Nawaqanitawase named in the reserves as he works back from a calf injury. Chad Townsend has worn the brunt of the underperforming team and has been dropped to the reserves. Hugo Savala is the new halfback.

Lindsay Collins will miss up to six weeks with an MCL injury, Nat Butcher moves to prop with Victor Radley coming in to his usual lock position as the replacement.
