Canterbury Bulldogs vs Parramatta Eels Predictions

Parramatta Eels endured two tight tussles with the Bulldogs last season, but this should be one sided. Canterbury don't have the scoring weapons to trouble the Eels, who can cover the -19.5 line.

Maika Sivo scored a hat-trick last week and is the one to back in the tryscorer markets again.

  • Canterbury Bulldogs have lost 20 of their last 23 matches.
  • Parramatta Eels have won 8 of their last 10 matches against Canterbury Bulldogs.
  • Parramatta Eels have won 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Parramatta Eels have scored 35+ points in 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Parramatta Eels' Maika Sivo has scored 4 tries in his last 2 matches.

Head to Head

Parramatta Eels have dominated this match up, winning eight of the last 10 clashes with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The Eels did the double last year, winning 8-2 in a low-scoring affair in Round 1 and 18-16 in Round 12.

Canterbury Bulldogs Form

The Canterbury Bulldogs got their first win of the season at the seventh attempt when upsetting the Cronulla Sharks last week.

Trent Barrett's side got up and running for the season with an 18-12 victory, although they do remain bottom of the ladder still.

The Dogs led 18-0 after just 23 minutes and the Sharks were unable to reel them in.

It was a welcome victory having lost their opening six games of the campaign. The Bulldogs still have scored fewest points and conceded the second most.

Brad Deitz is on the interchange bench despite struggling with an ankle injury.

Jack Hetherington continues his suspension, while Jackson Topine (knee) and Lachlan Lewis (concussion) are still unavailable.

Parramatta Eels Form

Parramatta Eels made it six wins from seven games this season with a 46-6 demolition of Brisbane Broncos in Darwin last week.

Maika Sivo was the architect of the victory, scoring a hat-trick against the Broncos as the Eels ran in eight tries.

The Eels recorded an impressive 35-10 win at Canberra Raiders two weeks ago before thumping the struggling Brisbane outfit last week.

Verdict

The Eels have scored 35 points or more in three of their last four. That doesn't bode well for the Bulldogs, who have mustered up just 70 points all season. Parramatta can cover the handicap, with Maika Sivo among the tries again.
