North Queensland Cowboys vs Canterbury Bulldogs Predictions

The Cowboys got back to winning ways last week with Murray Taulagi in great form. With Jason Taumalolo back in the starting side, expect the Bulldogs to lose again and stay at the bottom of the NRL ladder.

North Queensland lost their opening four games of the season. The Cowboys lost 24-0 at Penrith before returning home in a 25-18 loss to the Dragons.

Todd Payten’s side hosted the Gold Coast Titans and were smashed 44-8 in Townsville. The Cowboys’ woes continued with a 48-10 loss against Cronulla in Sydney.

North Queensland got back to winning ways by beating Wests Tigers 34-30 in Leichardt last week. They led 28-6 at half time and 34-20 with 10 minutes to go before conceding two late tries.

Jason Taumalolo (hand) makes his return at lock which has prompted a pack reshuffle. Todd Payten has named Coen Hess at prop, Francis Molo moving to the bench and Reuben Cotter out of the side.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (ankle) is out with Justin O'Neill (head knock) returning in the centres. 

Connelly Lemuelu (shoulder) is in doubt but has been named in the starting side. Mitch Dunn (foot) has been named in the 21-man squad and could be a late inclusion.

Michael Morgan (shoulder) has retired and Josh McGuire is likely to have played his last game with the Cowboys, rumoured to be linking up with the Dragons this week.

Canterbury Bulldogs Form

Canterbury sit bottom of the NRL after five straight defeats in 2021. The Bulldogs lost 32-16 at Newcastle in their first game of the season.

Trent Barrett’s side failed to score in their next three games. Canterbury lost 28-0 against Penrith, 24-0 against Brisbane and 38-0 against South Sydney.

The Bulldogs managed to score against Melbourne last week but went down 52-18 in Sydney. Luke Thompson, Jake Averillo and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak crossed for tries but their defence let them down.

Canterbury Bulldogs Injuries & Team News

Canterbury captain Josh Jackson (calf) is ruled out after suffering an injury at training.

Luke Thompson starts at lock with Chris Smith coming onto the bench. 

Lachlan Lewis (concussion) was close to returning this week but will have to wait until next week.

Jeremy Marshall-King (foot) is out until round 10-12, Raymond Faitala-Mariner (foot) until round 18-22 and Jayden Okunbor (knee) until round 20.

Nick Meaney (broken ribs) is out indefinitely and Christian Crichton (knee) is out for the season.
