John Morris’ side then went down 12-10 against Canberra. Cronulla paid the price for Chad Townsend missing all three attempts at goal.

Cronulla lost 28-4 against Parramatta last week. The score was harsh as the Sharks were decimated by injury, playing almost 45 minutes with no men on the bench.

Sharks winger Sione Katoa suffered a suspected MCL injury and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He has been replaced by Mawene Hiroti. 

Briton Nikora will miss two weeks after accepting a two-match ban for a shoulder charge. Teig Wilton takes his place in the back row.

Wade Graham and Will Kennedy are on track to face the Cowboys but need to pass concussion protocols to play.

Jesse Ramien is suspended until round 5. Connor Tracey continues in the centres.

Forwards Royce Hunt (knee) and Siosifa Talakai (shoulder) had their returns pushed back to round 7-8.

Star playmaker Shaun Johnson (Achilles) is scheduled to return in rounds 7-8. Jackson Ferris (foot) is expected back in round 10.

Former NSW prop Andrew Fifita is still trying to get into the matchday squad with questions surrounding his fitness.

North Queensland Cowboys Form


North Queensland have lost their opening three games of the season. The Cowboys didn’t trouble the scorers in a 24-0 defeat at Penrith where they completed 59% of their sets and conceded 7 penalties.

Todd Payten’s side hosted St George Illawarra and went down 25-18.

The Cowboys were smashed 44-8 by the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday. They missed 42 tackles and made 12 errors.

North Queensland Cowboys Injuries & Team News


Todd Payten has shaken things up with Jake Clifford and Esan Marsters dropped to the reserves. Ben Hampton has been brought into the side at halfback to partner Scott Drinkwater.

Justin O'Neill moves from the wing to the centres to partner Connelly Lemuelu who will play his first game of the season. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow goes back to the wing with Valentine Holmes at full back.

The back row sees Ben Condon coming in for his second NRL game with Coen Hess making his 100th NRL appearance from the bench.

Mitchell Dunn (foot), Kane Bradley (shoulder), Tom Gilbert (broken fibula), Reuben Cotter (head knock) and Michael Morgan (shoulder) could all return next week.

Jason Taumalolo (broken hand) is out for a few more weeks.

Kyle Feldt (suspension) is out with Murray Taulagi starting on the wing.
