Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm Predictions

Cameron Munster is ruled out for the Storm, but I'm still backing Melbourne to cover a 3.5 line against Manly Sea Eagles. The visitors can end a two-game losing run at Brookvale.

  • Melbourne has won 7 of the past 10 games against Manly.
  • Manly have a 27-55 record without Tom Trbojevic in their side.
  • Manly have scored less than 20 points in 4 of their past 5 games against Melbourne.
  • Manly has leaked 5 tries to back rowers in the past 3 games.

Head to Head

The Sea Eagles have won the past two contests at Four Pines Park, although Melbourne holds a 7-3 advantage in the past 10 games since 2019.

Manly and Melbourne both got home wins last year. The Sea Eagles got up 18-8 at Four Pines and the Storm returned serve with a 24-6 victory at AAMI.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Manly skidded to their third loss in a row after given Brisbane a scare in Magic Round, coming back from 12 nil down to lose 13-12 after Jock Madden slotted the one-pointer in the 75th minute after Brisbane did not score since the 11th minute of the game.

The positive in the loss was obviously the 70 minutes of defence Manly were able to put together against the potent Brisbane attack, which is exactly what their focus needs to be with their attacking suffering the recurring blow of missing Tom Trbojevic for an extended period.

Manly scored under 20 points for just the second time this season with the absence of their gun fullback taking a blow on their creativity with the ball. Manly fell to their 55th loss in 82 games with Trbo in the side.

Manly Sea Eagles Team News

Jason Saab returns early from injury pushing Jaxson Paulo out of the side.

Lachlan Croker will miss his third consecutive game under concussion protocol with Karl Lawton staying in the No. 9 jersey.

Match Lodge suffered a bicep injury and will be out for a while with Nathan Brown replacing him on the bench.

Melbourne Storm Form

No tricks were needed for Melbourne who blew past the Eels in Magic Round 48-16, scoring 5 tries in the second half with both Harry GRant and Reimis Smith getting doubles.  The win did come at a loss though with Cameron Munster leaving the field with a groin injury and will miss a couple of months.

The Storm have been dealing with injury and suspension all season but have continued to win and are still second on the ladder, despite their health issues.

The Storm are doing what they do and will grind out their wins, controlling the territory and having stellar goal line defence.

The return of Jahrome Hughes will help the cause aiding in Melbourne's ability to keep the ball in their opposition half and also creating line breaks where they rank tied first in the league with 5.8 per game.

Melbourne Storm Team News

Cameron Munster is gone for two months, reinjuring his groin which kept him out of the start of the season. The Boost is that Jahrome Hughes returns from concussion.

Tyran Wishart will switch from halfback to five-eight.
