Manly Sea Eagles vs Penrith Panthers Predictions

The bottom of the ladder Sea Eagles and table topping Panthers have started the season in polar opposite form, and there is little reason to expect anything different on Thursday.

The Panthers have dominated Manly in recent times and another wide-margin win is predicted. There's value on Manly failing to register a point given the performances of both sides in the opening three weeks.

  • Manly Sea Eagles have lost 11 of their last 12 matches.
  • Manly Sea Eagles have conceded most points (110) in the opening three rounds of the season.
  • Manly Sea Eagles have seen 48 or more points scored in 10 of their last 12 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers have won the last 3 matches against Manly Sea Eagles.
  • Penrith Panthers have won 5 of their last 6 matches against Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.
  • Penrith Panthers won by 30 points against Manly Sea Eagles last season.
  • Penrith Panthers have conceded 10 points in 3 matches this season, including 2 shutouts.

Head to Head

Penrith Panthers have won the last three meetings between the sides to take their recent record to 11 victories in the last 14 head to heads.

Last season, the Panthers won 42-12 at Brookvale Oval. It was their fifth win in the last six visits to Manly's home ground.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Manly Sea Eagles are winless, last on the ladder and have conceded more points than any other side in a sorry start to the season.

Des Hasler's side look set for a long season on the evidence of what we have seen. They now face last year's minor premiers Penrith Panthers and this year's table toppers.

The Sea Eagles went down 46-4 to Sydney Roosters at the SCG in Round 1 and lost 26-12 at home to the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 2.

Last week, things were no better as Manly lost 38-12 to St George Illawarra Dragons to slip to 0-3 for the season.

Penrith Panthers Form

Having spent most of last season at the top of the ladder, minor premiers Penrith Panthers find themselves at the top of the standings again after three rounds.

Ivan Cleary's side came from behind to beat Melbourne Storm last week in a rematch of the 2020 Grand Final.

Kurt Capewell's 78th minute try and Stephen Crichton's conversion earned a 12-10 win for the Panthers to go 3-0 for the season.

It was the first points conceded by Penrith this campaign after a 24-0 shutout win over North Queensland Cowboys side in Round 1 was followed by a 28-0 victory over Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 2.

Penrith Panthers Team News

Penrith Panthers welcome back Nathan Cleary at halfback after he sat out the Storm game due to concussion.

They do, however, lose Dylan Edwards for up to a month due to a broken hand.

Stephen Crichton will start at fullback and Matt Burton shifts to the centres in a reshuffle.

Api Koroisau remains out with a broken wrist.
