Manly Sea Eagles vs St George Illawarra Dragons Preview
Manly a 3-0 at home this season and can maintain that perfect record. Brookvale Oval has been a fortress in recent seasons and I'm backing the Sea Eagles to cover the line.
- Manly have a 64% win record at home over the past 4 seasons, the best number in the NRL.
- The Over has hit in just 38% of games so far this season, the bookies want that number to get to 50% which offers us great value.
- The Sea Eagles have scored the first try in 4 straight games.
- Jason Saab has scored in 3 of 4 games for Manly so far this season and dating back to round 14 last year has scored in 12 of 16 games for a total of 14 tries.
Head to Head
Since the beginning of the 2019 season these two teams have matched up on 9 occasions with with St George holding a slim 5-4 advantage in the win column.
The wins were split 1-1 last season with each team taking the W on their home turf.
The Under has hit in four straight games between these teams and five of the last nine. The winning margin has been 13+ in 6 of the last nine but only one of the last three.
Manly Sea Eagles Form
Manly will play their 5th home game in the first 7 rounds of football this weekend with a 3-1 record heading into the matchup at 4 Pines Park. Since the start of the 2021 season the Sea Eagles have won 25 of 39 matches played at Brookvale Oval for a 64% win percentage.
In Perth last weekend they were beaten comfortably by the Sharks 24-18 with the score looking closer thanks to a DCE try in the 79th minute.
Manly won the territory battle and racked up 1536 Run Metres in the game, almost 200 metres more than their season average of 1360m. They had trouble converting that into points though with only 3 tries from their 37 tackles Inside 20m of their opponent.
The team is still 3rd in linebreaks and 2nd in Possession on the season while being in the top 7 rankings in defensive measures in all but opposition Territory.

St George Illawarra Dragons Form
The Dragons returned to winning form at WIN stadium over the weekend, laying waste to the Titans 38-16 to take their third straight 13+ point victory at the ground against Gold Coast.
The win broke a two game losing streak at the stadium and pushes their season record to 2-3 with the team already having their first bye.
St Georges left edge of Christian Tuipulotu and Val Holmes had a field day scoring 3 tries between them with Holmes also kicking 5 goals. They also combined for 3 Linebreaks and 1 linebreak assist in the game with a combined total of 290 run metres between them.
It was the best performance of the season so far in attack for the Dragons scoring 38 points and running for 1616 Metres on the day.
Defensively they still allowed their opponent to get inside the red zone at an alarming rate with Gold Coast having 39 tackles inside their attacking 20m. St George are ranked 16th in the NRL allowing 36.8 tackles inside their own 20m per game.
