The NRL Preliminary Finals kick-off on Friday when the Melbourne Storm host the Canberra Raiders. The Storm enter the match off a week's break since beating the Parramatta Eels, while the Raiders held off a brave Roosters side last week. Who will reach the NRL Grand Final?

Melbourne Storm Form

In what is shaping as Cameron Smith’s final season in the NRL, could the juggernaut that is the Melbourne Storm go all the way this year?

Storm overcame a slow start to dominate the Eels at Suncorp Stadium in week one of the finals. Conceding an early 12-0 lead, the Storm bounced back to their dominant best to record a strong 36-20 win on the back of a Ryan Papenhuyzen blinder.

Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders Match Up

In what could very much be an entree for the Origin series, Queensland and Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster will be looking to overcome an injury and lead his side to get another grand final.

On the other side of the field though stands arguably the most in-form player in the competition, Raiders and potential New South Wales five-eighth Jack Wighton.

Both big, strong running halves, Munster and Wighton are two of the most exciting halves in the game. Whichever one takes control of the game could be the player to win the match.

Verdict

The Raiders have been extremely brave all season. But coming out a gut-busting match, they face a rejuvenated Storm side following their week off. The Raiders will be brave but expect the rested Storm to stamp their class.
