Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders Predictions

Penrith have been foot perfect in the opening four rounds, conceding just 16 points along the way. The visit of Canberra is a test, but I expect them to take care of the Raiders and extend their winning run at home.

Over the match total points has delivered in this fixture and is tipped, along with a Panthers win by 1-12 points with the Raiders no pushovers.

  • Penrith Panthers are bidding for a 5-0 start to the season for the first time in their history.
  • Penrith Panthers have won 21 of their last 22 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers have won their last 11 matches at BlueBet Stadium.
  • Penrith Panthers have conceded 16 points in 4 matches this season, including 2 shutouts.
  • Penrith have kept their opponents to 16 points or less in 24 of their last 28 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers have won 5 of their last 7 matches against Canberra Raiders.
  • Canberra Raiders have seen over the total match points in their last 7 matches against Penrith Panthers.

Head to Head

The Panthers have had the better of the Raiders in recent clashes, winning five of the last seven meetings between the sides.

They met just once last year and it was Penrith who took the points courtesy of a 28-12 win at home.

Penrith Panthers Form

Penrith Panthers inflicted a heaviest ever home defeat on Manly Sea Eagles last week when running out 46-6 winners at Brookvale.

Eight tries - four in each half - contributed to a fourth straight win for the table toppers.

They accounted for North Queensland Cowboys 24-0 and Canterbury Bulldogs 28-0 in the opening two rounds.

In Round 3, a late try saw the Panthers extend their club record winning run at home to 11. They beat Melbourne Storm 12-10 in a rematch of last year's Grand Final.

Canberra Raiders Form

Canberra Raiders recorded an impressive 20-4 victory over Gold Coast Titans last week despite a number of injury absentees.

It was a strong performance by the Canberra defence and took the Raiders to 3-1 for the season and up to fifth spot on the ladder.

Canberra started the season with a comfortable 30-12 victory over the Wests Tigers before a fortunate to 12-10 win over Cronulla Sharks.

The Raiders led 25-6 against the New Zealand Warriors in Round 3 before injuries hurt them and resulted in a 34-31 loss.

Verdict

It is first versus fifth and the Raiders are likely to test the Panthers. But Penrith can come through with a 12th straight home victory.

Although both sides have performed well defensively, over 36.5 points is predicted with the history of this match up suggesting overs.
