The Panthers get their star players back and will be fired up at home. The Roosters haven’t won three in a row all season and are unlikely to make that happen in Penrith.

  • Penrith Panthers have won by 18+ points in their last 4 home games.
  • Penrith Panthers have won 12 of their last 14 games.

Head to Head

Sydney Roosters have a 60-38 advantage against Penrith Panthers with three draws in 99 games.

Penrith won both encounters last season, 20-14 in Round 1 and 29-28 in the qualifying final.

Penrith Panthers Form

Penrith won their opening 12 games of the season. They regularly demolished teams in that run including beating Manly 46-6, Cronulla 48-0, Gold Coast 48-12, South Sydney 56-12 and Canterbury 30-4.

Ivan Cleary’s side suffered before and after the first State of Origin which robbed them of their top players.

The Panthers suffered a 26-6 defeat against West Tigers at Leichardt before a 19-18 loss against Cronulla where they came back from 18-0 down.

Matt Burton has moves back into the centres with Tyrone May dropped.

Trent Robinson’s side recently suffered a shock 34-16 defeat to Brisbane at the SCG.

The Roosters bounced back with a 44-16 win against Canberra on the Central Coast. They won 35-34 against Gold Coast last week thanks to a late Matt Ikuvalu try and Sam Walker field goal.
