South Sydney Rabbitohs entered the bye on the back of a 38-20 victory over the Parramatta Eels to get back on track.

Wayne Bennett's side had suffered heavy losses to Penrith Panthers (56-12) and Melbourne Storm (50-0) in two of the previous three games.

A hard-fought 32-22 victory over Cronulla Sharks was sandwiched in between those losses.

The win over the Eels lifted Souths back up to fourth spot on the ladder.

Wayne Bennett has opted to rest Dane Gagai and Jai Arrow following their State of Origin duties.

Latrell Mitchell, Damien Cook and Cameron Murray have been named after starring for NSW in their win.

Jaydn Su'A is listed on the interchange to back up from Origin, while Josh Mansour is among the reserves.

The Rabbitohs have named Mark Nicholls to start, but he will have to pass concussion protocols.

Newcastle Knights Form


The Knights' miserable run of form continued last week when losing 40-4 at home to the Parramatta Eels.

It was the third time in four matches that the Newcastle defence had conceded 36 points or more.

They lost 36-18 to Wests Tigers and 36-20 to North Queensland Cowboys, but securing a much needed win with a 18-10 victory over the Manly Sea Eagles two weeks ago.

Kalyn Ponga missed Origin duties after failing to recover from injury, and is again out for the Knights.

Daniel Saifiti did play in Origin and has been named to back up.

Phoenix Crossland and Jake Clifford come into the side, but Startford To'a is ruled out.

To'a's absence means a reshuffle with Kurt Mann starting in the centres and Enari Tuala on the wing.
