Both teams are in need of a reaction after embarrassing defeats last weekend. South Sydney rank poorly in all defensive stats and I'm taking Brisbane to win and cover the line with the Game Total going Over.

Souths were embarrassed for the second time in 3 weeks, this time by the Knights losing 30-4 at Magic Round over the weekend.

After bouncing back from a 32-0 drubbing at the hands of Canterbury in Round 7, South Sydney put it to Melbourne in Round 8 going down by only eight points in Melbourne 24-16.

This game just kind of mirrors their season to date, a raft of injuries affecting the team and despite the overall balance in Territory and Possession the team still gave up 30.

The damage was done early with three tries in the first 13 minutes of the game as the Rabbits allowed 7 Linebreaks to their opponents in the first half, more than double their season average in first halves.

They were also cooked in attack, unable to capitalise on their 30 tackles Inside the Bunnies 20m zone, they had no linebreaks themselves for the 2nd time in three weeks and had nine errors during the 80 minutes.

Some key Ins for the Rabbits this week with Latrell Mitchell and Jamie Humphreys returning from injury.

Siliva Havili replaces Peter Mamouzelos at hooker with Pete out with injury. Euan Aitken moves into the backrow which sees Isaiah Tass move from the wing to centre and Fletcher Myers come into the starting side.

Tavita Tatola has been dropped to the reserves with Jai Arrow and Keaon Koloamatangi the new front row pairing. Sean Keppie is on the bench together with Jye Gray.

Brisbane Broncos Form

The Broncos had another one of those games last weekend where they looked like a reserve grade team.

A 32-8 loss to the Penrith Panthers is their biggest defeat of the season so far as both the defence and attack faltered throughout the 80 mins at Magic Round.

Brisbane were unable to restrict their opponents making ground up the field and poor attempts at tackling resulted in seven linebreaks to the Panthers, double the season average allowed by the Broncos.

They looked clunky in attack with the defence rushing up and stymying the Broncs opportunities to use their passing and set plays effectively.

They scored just one try on 31 tackles in the Penrith 20m zone where they otherwise this season average a four pointer every six tackles.

The only change in the lineup from last week’s loss is Jaiyden Hunt dropping to the reserves for Fletcher Baker who comes onto the interchange. Ezra Mam has completed his 9 game suspension and will return to play via QCup.
