  • Sydney rank 4th in Run Metres conceded and 5th in Points Conceded this season while topping the league in Points Scored at 29.9 per game.

Head to Head

The Roosters and Sea Eagles have met in nine regular season matches as well as one Semi Final since the beginning of the 2019 season.

Sydney have gone 6-3 in the regular season matchups but lost the Semi Final in 2021 by 42-6.

The last three Manly victories have all come at 4 Pines Park or neutral fields with the Roosters holding the advantage in games played at the SCG or Allianz Stadium.

The Roosters won the most recent matchup earlier this season 34-30 but failed to cover as 8.5 point favourites.

Sydney Roosters Form

The Roosters were totally outplayed by defending Premiers Penrith in their Qualifying Final loss last weekend.

As has been the case for the majority of the season, Sydney could not stand up against a top ranked team. They allowed 4 tries to their opponent within the first 23 minutes before being able to steady the ship and lockdown on defence.

Sydney were unable to cross for any points themselves in the first half but did score two tries in 4 minutes shortly after the break.

The game was never in doubt though for Penrith who looked calm and collected controlling all facets of the game throughout the 80 minutes.

The Roosters had only 46% Possession and 34% of the Territory in the game reaching only 28 Tackles Inside 20m whilst having to defend 46 Tackles Inside their own 20m. The tri-colours missed 42 Tackles in the game and were forced to take 4 dropouts with Nathan Cleary peppering the in-goal.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Manly dug themselves out of a hole against the Bulldogs in last weekend’s elimination final to win 24-22.

Down 16-6 with 5 minutes remaining in the first half the game was starting to look out of reach for the Sea Eagles with the Bulldogs crushing defence limiting opportunities. They were able to cross three minutes out from the break to take momentum into the second half.

A brilliant scrum play at the 56th minute brought Manly back to within a try and the Sea Eagles had all the momentum into the last quarter of the game.

The final try came off the back of a slick mid-field play with all the important players touching the ball before Tolu Koula gave an immense individual effort to beat 3 Dogs defenders and cross for a try to seal the win.

Manly were kept to only 1271 Run Metres in the game and had only 20 Tackles Inside Opposition 20m. Their opponent had only 16 Tackles in their 20m but still managed 4 tries in the game in a slightly worrying sign. Both teams kicked for over 700 Metres in the game.

Manly Sea Eagles Team News

Tom Trbojevic needed multiple pain-killing injections last weekend to get through the game but has again been named in his usual fullback role. There are no changes to the team that sent the Dogs packing last weekend.
